Evi Pangestu
(b. 1992)
Evi Pangestu is a painter who investigates rebellion and control within the parameter of convention. Evi is currently based between Oakland, Jakarta, and London. She has lived and worked itinerantly since she graduated from Royal College of Art in 2019. Evi’s work involves the process of reconstructing the painting’s structure and pushing materials limit, furthermore squaring the modifications by using lines and colour. Evi is interested in the idea of constant adaptation in a world that requires one to fit in to survive; how disagreements and disobediences happen but we adjust to stay within it nonetheless.
