Judith Ansems, who began her creative life as a chart-topping musician and later trained at the Wackers Academie of Art, approaches painting with a figurative style, but with a twist.
Ansem’s work focuses intensely on daily scenes and subjects, capturing specific elements like the sunlight in a room, the shadow of a tree on tiles, the reflections on the floor, or the rhythm of lines in the stairwell.
Ansems's paintings revolve around time, stillness, and the acknowledgment of our transient life through highlighting the interplay of light and dark, strong lines, and reflections. There is also an underlying theme that involves painting beautiful walls that capture the light, considering these structures to be protectors that keep her safe and warm.
A former child psychologist, Ansems applies her research on children's depictions of home and emotional states to her interior design. She views the domestic interior not as a mere backdrop but as a diagnostic surface with psychic weight.
