Tamara M. Alamsyah interprets “kabur” in two ways: first, as “blurred”, referring to a state where form and meaning exist in a transitional zone that cannot be fully defined; second, as “escape”, signifying an act of escapism, an effort to distance oneself from everything clear-cut and undeniable.
Born in Palembang, Indonesia, Tamara M. Alamsyah had minimal exposure to the creative world growing up. Nevertheless, she learned to express her thoughts through drawing.
She is particularly interested in how people’s perceptions are shaped. Her current research focuses on Sudjoko’s concept of elaborating artworks from Menuju Nirada (1992) to understand and define her practice in a more localized context.
